Actor and director Timothy Busfield is facing two counts of sexually assaulting a minor in New Mexico after an arrest warrant was issued Friday.
The investigation involves twin boys who were actors in the 2022 TV series “The Cleaning Lady,” directed by Busfield. One boy told an investigator last fall that Busfield touched his “private areas” when he was seven, and again when he was eight, while they were on set.

According to an Albuquerque police affidavit, the boy said he was “very scared of Tim and when he walked off the set.”
The “Field of Dreams” and “Thirtysomething” actor directed six episodes of “The Cleaning Lady,” which aired from 2022 to 2025 on Fox.
Busfield spoke to police on the phone in November, according to the affidavit. He was asked if he had had “any physical contact” with the boys and if he had picked them up and tickled them.
“Timothy said it was very likely that he would be,” the affidavit said.
Busfield then said the boy’s parents would be around, and it wouldn’t be “weird”. He later said he did not remember picking up the boys.
“I don’t remember those guys,” he said. “No, I don’t. I don’t really remember it, if it ever did. I don’t remember openly tickling boys, but it wouldn’t be unusual for me.”
The Second Judicial District Attorney’s Office declined to comment.
According to the affidavit, Warner Bros. investigated 2025 after SAG-AFTRA received an anonymous complaint about a separate incident in December 2024.
The complaint alleges Busfield kissed a boy on the face and tickled and caressed the boys head in the hair and makeup trailer. Warner Bros. contracted an outside investigator who could not verify that claim.
Albuquerque Police Det. Marvin Brown alleged in an affidavit that Warner Bros. “made it very difficult to get information about this case.” Detectives obtained a search warrant to obtain a copy of the search report, but three months later it was not returned, he wrote.
When the spy reached out to the other child actors on the show to ensure their safety, Warner Bros. advised her that she would have to go through their lawyers to speak with employees, the affidavit said.
Warner Bros. did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
When Busfield joined the series, he “became close to the boys,” the affidavit continues, adding, “It was reported that Timothy would tell his children to call him ‘Uncle Tim.'”
A police officer first spoke to the parents and boys in 2024, after police received a report from their doctor. At the time, the boys did not disclose any sexual contact to officers, and police declined to pursue charges.
However, in September 2025, a child reported to her counselor and later her pediatrician that Busfield “touched her penis and bottom.”
Another brother said he “didn’t like being touched, but didn’t say anything because he didn’t want to get in trouble,” according to the complaint.
In his interview with police, Busfield said he heard from Elodie Yung, the lead actress on the show, that the boy’s mother “wanted revenge” because her sons were not brought back for the final season.
Yung refused to talk to police, saying she “did not want to be involved in the investigation,” the affidavit said.
The court issued an arrest warrant on Friday afternoon. A legal representative for Busfield did not respond to a request for comment.
