As I mentioned in my piece about the 2026 Tiger Sport 660 yesterday, this isn’t the only shiny new motorcycle Triumph has announced this week.
Equally newsworthy is a bike that shares its upgraded engine but rolls out with a completely different attitude.

Intended for pure tarmac-trading pleasure, the new Trident 660 boasts fresh styling, more power and better handling.
The fact that the base price of this entry-level roadster is under $10,000 only makes the total package more attractive.
Wild horses
Like the Tiger Sport 660, the big news is the amped-up 660 triple engine, which now makes 94 horsepower, 14 ponies more than its predecessor, as well as 50.2 ft-lb of peak torque at 8,250 rpm.
That torque is there for the taking, as 80 percent of it is available from 3,000 rpm to about 12,000 rpm.

Meanwhile, the redline climbs 20 percent to 12,650rpm, which enables plenty of top-end acceleration and ensures plenty of speed and smooth power from city streets to two-lane twisties.
This entry-level ride still puts your shifting skills to the test with the six-speed gearbox, but the effort is eased with Triumph Shift Assist and a slip-and-assist clutch lever, which helps you ride for hours without lifting your hand.

Triumph engines are beloved for their rattle and hum, and this triple is no different, enhanced by triple throttle bodies and enhanced induction.
While I’m personally inclined towards inconspicuous pipes, this Trident’s revised exhaust system flies under the radar, tucked under the engine and tapping in front of the rear wheel, without you or the passenger ever burning a calf on it.
Riders are welcome
Additional changes to the bike offer a bit more attitude for those of means, including a fuel tank with knee cutouts and a split rider and passenger seat (with the option to add a rear cowl for solo riders).
Still, the bike has many features that increase accessibility, inviting new and younger riders to turn their legs.

For example, the premium Showa suspension includes inverted big piston forks with 4.72 inches of travel and a new rear suspension unit with 5.12 inches of travel and more adjustability.
Meanwhile, the bike’s narrow standover height and relatively low seat (31.89 inches), combined with wide bars and low wet weight (430 pounds) make for a naturally nimble ride.

Those purely physical attributes are enhanced by a bunch of thoughtful technology, including a connected color TFT display that enables you to toggle through three riding modes – Sport, Road and Rain – that adjust throttle response, ABS and traction control to suit the conditions.
Even more rider-friendly technology comes in the form of a six-axis IMU, which enables Optimized Cornering ABS and switchable Optimized Cornering Traction Control, all of which help you keep the shiny side up even when you have other thoughts on the road.
Availability and pricing
The 2026 Triumph Trident 660 hits dealerships in March with a starting price of $9,145.
