The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Wednesday that the Hamas terrorist who killed surveillance soldier Corporal Noah Marciano while he was being held captive in Gaza has been killed.
The strike, which targeted a group of terrorists including Muhammad Isam Hassan al-Habil, followed an overnight attack by Hamas that injured IDF troops in northern Gaza, in violation of a ceasefire agreement.
The IDF said in a statement that al-Habil, the main commander of a Hamas cell, was killed in an airstrike on the Shati refugee camp in Gaza City.
“In response to an apparent violation of the cease-fire agreement overnight, today (Wednesday), the IDF and ISA attacked and killed the head of the Hamas terrorist cell, terrorist Mohammad Isam Hassan al-Habil,” the IDF confirmed.

The IDF, interrogating it through the Israeli Security Agency (ISA), said al-Habil brutally murdered 19-year-old Marciano while in Hamas captivity.

The IDF soldier was abducted by the terrorist organization from the Nahal Oz checkpoint during the October 7 massacre.
She was injured in an IDF airstrike on November 9, 2023, when captured by Hamas and later taken to Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. At the time, Hamas claimed Marciano was killed in an Israeli air strike.
Her body was eventually recovered by Israeli forces in November 2023 and returned to Israel for burial in Modi’in, where she lived with her family.
After the announcement of al-Habil’s death, Marciano’s mother, Adi Marciano, said the family had been promised that everyone involved in her daughter’s murder would be brought to justice, according to The Times of Israel.
“There’s no real comfort in it,” she said. “But there is knowledge that justice has been done, even if only partially. Nothing will bring Noah back to us.”

Noah Marciano, 19, was abducted from the Nahal Oz checkpoint during the October 7 massacre and later murdered at Shifa Hospital.
“This elimination shuts down the Marciano family and the IDF and the ISA,” the IDF said.
“The IDF and the ISA will continue to act against any terrorist involved in the brutal massacre of October 7 and against any attempt to carry out terrorist attacks against IDF forces and Israeli civilians in the Gaza Strip.”
Israeli forces were responding to several security incidents overnight, including attacks on IDF forces after al-Habil was killed.
Around 1 a.m., terrorists opened fire on IDF forces in the Daraz Tufah area, seriously wounding a reserve officer.

IDF forces retaliated and launched additional attacks in the area to eliminate the threat.
In the attack, the suspects crossed the Yellow Line in southern Khan Younis and were considered a threat to the army. The suspects were later killed, the IDF said.
In addition to al-Habil, among those killed was Bilal Abu Assi, the Hamas Nukhba platoon commander who led the October 7 massacre at Kibbutz Nir Oz.

Abu Assi was believed to have participated in taking hostages while directing terrorist plots against IDF forces.
According to the IDF, Ali Raziana, the commander of the Northern Gaza Brigade of the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization, was also killed.
