A frustrated Trump asked voters to ‘remember’ him after the Will Obama post

President Trump is asking November voters to remember his policy victories — and not his racist truth social media posts.

Trump, 79, took to his social media platforms on Friday evening to brag about rolling back the ban on commercial fishing off the New England coast under Obama. The post comes a day after Trump earned widespread condemnation for posting an AI-generated video depicting Obama as a monkey.

“Today, I signed a Presidential Proclamation on commercial fishing in the Atlantic Ocean, advancing America’s first fishing policy!”, Trump wrote.

“Please remember that I did this for you, against strong Democratic opposition, and vote Republican in the moderates!”

Trump’s announcement Friday “restores commercial fishing access to all 4,913 square miles of Northeast Canyon and Seamount Marine National Monument along the New England coast.”

President Obama established a roughly 5,000-square-mile preserve east of Cape Cod in 2016, seeking to protect fragile undersea coral ecosystems. Trump rolled back the protections during his first term, and Joe Biden reinstated them during his term.

Trump described the announcement as a boon for the New England region, which has voted for the Democratic candidate in the three presidential elections in which Trump has been on the ballot.

“Hard to believe you would vote for a Democrat who did this to you, but not for ‘Trump’, who will get you out of this environmental and economic meltdown,” the president added, adding, “Vote Republican from now on!”

Trump’s plea for midterm momentum comes at a time when all signs point to Democrats dominating the GOP in November, with a serious chance of winning both chambers of Congress.

Trump’s terrible polls on the economy and immigration — two issues that have been strong for him in his 2024 election victory — have become an albatross for vulnerable Republican incumbents.

Now, beleaguered GOP politicians must square off with their party leader posting blatantly racist videos of his former political foes’ re-election bid.

Trump posted a video showing Barack and Michelle Obama’s heads being mounted on a monkey bar Thursday night.

The administration has thrown countless excuses into the controversy. White House press secretary Carolyn Levitt said it was only a lion king Mem, even if there are no monkeys lion king. Trump said he had not seen the offending part of the video, as it appears towards the end of the clip.

The GOP is reportedly panicking over the position.

Trump’s former chief of staff, Mick Mulvaney, reportedly told NewsNation’s Kelly Meyer that the clip ruined Republicans’ slim chances of winning the midterms.

“I’ve talked to a lot of House members who are beside themselves, and they don’t know how they’re going to handle this down the road,” Mulvaney added.

Notably, some GOP officials broke with Trump on the video. Nebraska Senator Pete Ricketts, up for re-election in 2026, was among several GOP politicians who publicly condemned Trump’s racist Obama posts.

“If it was one lion king Meme, a reasonable person sees the racist context in this,” he posted on X. “The White House should do what anyone does when they make a mistake: take it down and apologize.”
