Investigators told NewsCenter 7 that Ashley, her husband and their children were the only ones inside the home when someone allegedly broke in and shot her. “We were shaking the neighbors. They cut the grass, and we were working here, and we would shake each other, that was about it,” Leining said, adding that he was surprised to hear of Caleb’s arrest. “It’s been very frustrating. You think you know your neighbors,” he said.

News Center 7 obtained the dispatch logs when Tipp City Police first learned of the incident at Cunningham Court. The call refers to the “RP,” which means the reporting party or person who called 911. “Someone entered RP’s home, and it is unknown if they are still there. The garage door is open,” the dispatcher said.

The dispatcher said a woman had reportedly been shot and was unresponsive. The 911 caller told dispatchers there were children in the home.

On Wednesday, the Miami County Prosecutor responded to NewsCenter 7’s request for the 911 calls and said they are not being released at this time because they are part of investigative records, which are legal under Ohio law. The prosecutor’s office said NewsCenter 7 will receive that call, but it’s not clear when.

Caleb is being held in the Miami County Jail.
