The Louisville Bats won 7-6. Box score

Game notes

Ronnie Dawson hadn’t been home since July 24, but he made up for it a bit Sunday afternoon as he crushed two of them for Louisville. It was his second 2-homer game of the year for the Bats.

Cristian Santana returned for the second game in a row and the 4th game in the last 6.

Spencer Steer extended his hitting streak to 31 games. In his 16 games since joining the Reds organization – all with Louisville – he’s hitting .313/.397/.516.

The Chattanooga Lookouts lost 6-5. Box score

Game notes

Elly De La Cruz pulled even with teammate Alex McGarry for the organizational lead with 27 home runs. He is now hitting .308/.362/.618 in 99 games between Dayton and Chattanooga with 36 steals.

While De La Cruz and McGarry have the most home runs in the Reds organization, Christian Encarnacion-Strand has the most on the year. His homer Sunday was his 28th of the season, but was just his 3rd since joining the Reds organization (14 games).

Andrew Abbott struck out 9 with 2 walks in the game, but also allowed 3 earned runs on 5 hits in 4.2 innings. The lefty now has 94 strikeouts with 34 walks in 71.0 innings since being promoted to Chattanooga. His ERA is up to 5.70 in that same stretch.

The Dayton Dragons game was cancelled

This game actually started on time, but at the end of the first game the heavens opened and that was all she wrote. The game will not be restarted or compromised. Any stats accumulated in the few minutes played will not be counted.

The Daytona Turtles lost 9-6. Box score

Game notes

From July 24 to August 7, Yassel Pino went 1-34. Since August 8th, he has gone 11-28 (.393) with 6 walks and 7 strikeouts. He has already reached 3 games in a row.

Jack Rogers got 2 hits, but he was replaced as the designated hitter for what would have been his 4th at-bat of the night. No reason for this is known at this point. His 2 hits raised his line with the Tortugas to .289/.354/.529 in 59 games played.

Luis Mey struggled with control on the night. He had walked just 7 batters in July and August combined until his exit Sunday night.

Reds ACL had day off

Only two games remain in their regular season. They won their division and will advance to the playoffs, which begin Thursday. That day is a win or go home day. Four teams make the playoffs – the three division winners and the team with the highest winning percentage among all others. The two winners from Thursday’s “first round” will play a best-of-three championship series.

The DSL Reds had an off day
