Hours after the death of Carolyn Kennedy’s daughter Tatiana Schlossberg, President Donald Trump took to social media to mock the famous political family.
At the Truth Social on the afternoon of December 30, Trump shared screenshots of MAGA supporters insulting the Kennedys in response to his recent decision to add his name to the Kennedy Center.
Family members have claimed that Trump is barred “by federal law” from renaming the center, however, work crews have already added his name above JFK’s at the historic memorial site.
As the Kennedys mourned the untimely death of Tatiana Schlossberg, daughter of Caroline Kennedy and granddaughter of President John F. Kennedy — Donald Trump took to social media to share posts mocking the famous family.
Tatiana, the child of Caroline Kennedy and her husband Edwin Schlossberg, died on Tuesday, December 30, at the age of 35, just a month after publicly sharing that she had acute myeloid leukemia.
The news was shared by social media accounts for the JFK Library Foundation on behalf of Tatiana’s family, including her husband Dr. Included were George Moran and their young children Edwin and Josephine.
“Our beautiful Tatiana passed away this morning. She will always be in our hearts,” read the post signed by George, Edwin and Josephine Moran, Ed, Caroline, Jack, Rose and Rory.
Trump did not directly mention Tatiana in the flood of social media following her death. Instead, he shared screenshots of MAGA supporters mocking the famous political family for their recent reaction to the decision to add his name to the Kennedy Center, a historic performance venue in Washington, DC dedicated as a memorial to JFK after his assassination in Dallas, Texas in 1963.
“The Kennedy family has long neglected the Kennedy Center, btw,” claimed one. “They don’t raise money for it. They never show up. And Kennedy is the only member of Trump’s cabinet who has been there recently.”
“The Trumps have always been supporters of the arts. The Kennedys are supporters of the Kennedys,” read another.

Task forces added Donald Trump’s name to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on December 18, 2025.
White House press secretary Carolyn Levitt announced on Thursday, December 18 that the historic site’s board had “voted unanimously” to name the building the “Trump-Kennedy Center.” The next day, workers added “The Donald Trump and” above the pre-existing lettering, which read, “The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts.”
However, controversy soon arose among Kennedy Center board members and the family itself. Tatiana’s brother, Jack Schlossberg, wrote in X that “the microphones were muted” during the conference call where the board voted and the result was “not unanimous.”
Jack’s claim echoes comments made by Representative Joyce Beatty of Ohio, who serves as an ex-officio member of the Kennedy Center board. After the vote, Beatty took to X that she and other opponents of the vote were silenced on the call and not allowed to voice their differing opinions.
“For the record. It was not unanimous. I was muted on the call and was not allowed to speak or voice my opposition to this move,” Beatty, 75, wrote. “Even for the record, it wasn’t on the agenda. It wasn’t consent. It’s censorship.”
In her video message, she continued, “Congress clearly has a say in this. This center, the Kennedy Center, was created by Congress. I think it’s important to know that this is another attempt to ignore the law and not let the people have a say.”
Other Kennedys have approached the matter from a legal perspective. “The Kennedy Center is a living memorial to a fallen president and is named after President Kennedy by federal law,” wrote Joe Kennedy III, grandson of former Sen. Robert F. Kennedy. “One can no sooner rename the Lincoln Memorial than one can rename it, no matter what one says.”

The Kennedys have yet to respond to Trump’s latest attack. Family members who posted on social media in the hours after Tatiana’s death were the only ones to share loving tributes, such as Carolyn’s cousin, Maria Shriver, who was directly mocked in some of Trump’s screenshots.
“I return to this space today to pay my respects to my dear, dear Tatiana, who left this earth today,” Shriver wrote on X. “I return to this space to pay tribute and honor her loving and supportive family, who came together and did everything they could to help her. I return to this space heartbroken because Tatiana loved life. She fought to save her life.
“I can’t make sense of it. I can’t make any sense of it. None. Zero,” she continued. “My heart has always been with my cousin Caroline since we were little kids. My whole being is with her now. What a rock she was.”
“Those of us left behind will make sure Eddie and Josie know what a beautiful, brave soul their mother was and always will be. She takes after her extraordinary mother, Carolyn. May we all hold Tatiana’s family in our collective hugs not only today, but in the days to come, and let everyone reading this know how lucky you are.
