Jalen Rose found himself on the wrong side of the law in 2011.
He is four years removed from his NBA retirement and is thriving as an analyst for ESPN. During that time, he also recently produced a documentary called “The Fab Five,” which chronicled the journey of the iconic and historic 1991 Michigan team. However, the 13-year veteran ended up in the headlines in early March when he was arrested for driving under the influence.

On the evening of March 11, Rose was driving when he lost control and veered off a snow-covered road in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan. Fortunately, the passengers who were with him went home safely.
Officers then arrived at the scene and administered various sobriety tests to Rose. When he was arrested, Jalen told police he wasn’t drunk at all. However, his bloodshot eyes, smell of breath and test results told a different story.
It wasn’t until she stood before the judge that Rose was forced to tell the truth and admit her wrongdoing, clearly ashamed of doing so.

Sobriety test results initially showed Rose had a blood alcohol content of 0.088 percent. That exceeded Michigan’s limit of 0.08 percent. However, a subsequent hospital test showed his blood alcohol content was 0.12 percent.
Rose pleaded guilty in District Court in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. During his court appearance, Judge Kimberly Small grilled him.
Some of the questions he asked were the number of drinks he had consumed before the accident and their sizes. However, unlike his encounter with the officers, this time “Jinx” answered the questions truthfully, revealing that he had been drinking martinis.

“I’m ashamed to say I had six drinks that evening,” Gulab said. “I’m probably embarrassed to say too big.”
However, according to reports, Sano couldn’t care less about what Rose is feeling. He put other people’s lives in danger when he crashed his car, and Jalen needed to be held accountable.
“You’re not here because you’ve been drinking. I don’t have a problem with that; it’s just that… I object to you getting behind the wheel of a two-ton wagon and using it as a weapon against all of us.” the judge told Rose.

“You take the life of someone I love, I don’t care how much you gave to this community.” she added.

Rose was sentenced to 93 days in jail, but will serve up to 20 days in jail if he stays out of further trouble. He has also paid a fine of 500 dollars. In a statement, Jalen took ownership of her actions.

“I regret my decision to drive home that evening and am grateful that no one was injured in the accident.” He said. “I apologize to my family, my employer and each of my supporters for my mistake in judgment. I am especially sorry for disappointing those who trusted me to serve as a role model for the youth.
ESPN later suspended him. The report also found that Rose did not notify the network of his DUI arrest. Still, true to his word, Jalen accepted the consequences.
“Jalen has accepted full responsibility for his actions. Both parties are taking this very seriously, and as a result, we have agreed that he will not be on our broadcast while we address this situation.” ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said.

Gulab learned a valuable lesson from this experience: don’t drink and drive. However, hours after the sentencing, he was caught speeding in Detroit.
Still, that didn’t affect the sentence, despite the judge’s stipulation that Jalen stay out of trouble. In August, Rose was released after 16 days for good behavior.
