Hi, I’m Alexa, and I often use this space to track Donald Trump’s “hot” economy, but we need to examine how his policies are affecting everyday people – especially his loyal followers. So, welcome Donnie Hate Watch.

As you know, throughout his campaign Donald Trump drew a hard line when it came to immigration and border security. Before the 2024 election, Trump promised, “On day one … we will begin the largest deportation campaign in the history of our country.”

However, it seems that many of his base didn’t get the memo…

Now, Trump voters are experiencing exile in their families, jobs, schools and communities.

Among them is the MAGA supporter, who only seems to regret his vote because it is affecting his employees and his business.

“Let me start by saying I voted for Trump,” the business owner recently shared online. “He was the best choice on the ballot. I don’t agree with all of his ideas but overall I expected him to be a huge improvement on the last administration. In many ways I think he was.”

“However, this hellish notion of deporting all illegal aliens is wrong in my view.”

“Yes, there are very bad illegal immigrants here, and they need to be deported. I’m all for that. That’s the exception, not the norm.”

“I’m a 67-year-old white small business owner,” they continued. “We are a concrete manufacturing company. I have Hispanic finishers and carpenters who have worked for me for years. A couple over 20 years.”

“They’re not employees to me. They’re family. There’s nothing I can do for them. They’re honest, hard-working, more reliable guys. They care, take pride in what they do. A couple of them help their sons on occasion.”

“They don’t even have family in Mexico right now. If they were deported, they wouldn’t have a place to go or a family.”

“If you’ve never been to Mexico, before you judge these people, you need to experience Mexico for yourself. These people come from poverty. Backbreaking work for $70 a week.”

“I know most people don’t get it or maybe don’t care,” they concluded. “This is not what America should be about. Shame on Trump and anyone who thinks this is the right thing to do.”

“These good families are separated and forced to live here in fear, it breaks my heart when they want to make an honest living. They don’t live extravagantly, because they send money to support their parents and loved ones there so they don’t have to work for the cartels.”

A screenshot of the full post went viral on Reddit:

A social media post discussing thoughts on personal experiences related to immigration and employment, with a focus on recruitment and deportation issues.

Commenters gave all their sympathy to the affected employees, but certainly held nothing back when it came to their bosses. Here’s what they’re saying:

“‘There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for them.’ Except to vote in their best interests (and my own).”

“He was willing to do anything but sponsor, fund, or take any action to protect his status in this country. They were family to him, yet he decided to exploit them for not being naturalized citizens, and now he’s frustrated that he can’t exploit his family for the next two decades.”

Satan – you know

“What part of ‘deporting illegals’ does this man not understand?”

— Southofchronoh

“Best option? He doesn’t mean black women.”

“Ding ding ding. To him, Trump was clearly the white alternative.”

GhostofZellers

“You should have voted for an educated woman of color instead of an ignorant angry white guy, lol. If you can listen to a former president for hours and hours and not take every single thing he says at face value, shame on you.”

“Hopefully he has to work until he dies and never retires. Screw that guy.”

“So it affects his bottom line and he’s not okay with that. Everyone else👍”
