We recently asked members of the BuzzFeed community to share the subtle signs that a woman is right-wing (because many people wondered how to tell if men are secretly Republican). Here’s what they shared:
1. “Conservative women tend to answer how they voted or say they’re ‘not very political’ and say they’re liberal. (Honestly, not all conservatives tend to do this when they think their honest answer won’t be received well.)

2. “One sign is when women make excuses for bad male behavior or still support public figures accused of abuse or right-wing ideals. I think right-wing women are really a pick-mess who have grown up and still live in a predominantly right-wing community. I think it’s like Stockholm syndrome when a woman actually sees ******** men as more likely to make negative choices in their lives because ‘women are crazy’ or ‘make up’ whose stories are common.”

3. “If a woman doesn’t like it Barbie Movies or Taylor Swift, don’t ask why. Usually, this will give you your answer. It’s fine to have different tastes, but if the reason you don’t like them is specifically because they’re totally feminist or for women and girls, then we have a problem.”

4. “A sign that a woman is right-wing is when you make a joke or mention a current Internet claim about falsehoods propagated by radical far-rights, and she goes quiet or says, ‘I don’t want to talk about it right now.’ Avoiding potentially unpleasant conversations to maintain a false social propriety is a female role that society supports, and she doesn’t want the current balance to protect and grow far-right views.”

5. “One indicator is what’s on her dating profile. If she lists her religion but not political views, or claims indifferent ‘not political’ nonsense, that’s usually a sign.”

6. “I think a subtle sign of Republican women is over-criticism of non-traditional gender roles. I was watching a show with a woman, and she immediately started going on about a guy we saw at a bar on TV. The guy on the TV show had short hair but feminine facial features and a masculine style of clothing. The woman sitting next to me started saying, ‘I don’t know what.’ No. The woman felt the need to announce this even though no one asked for her opinion.

9. “When they refuse to see sex as any harm experience that you remind them of, that’s a sign.”
