Redbird Track & Field completes Day 1 of the Music City Challenge

NASHVILLE, TN. – The Redbird track and field team completes the first day of the Music City Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt University at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility.

With intense competition against many top power 5 schools, the Redbird track and field program thrived representing the Missouri Valley Conference. With 22 total events on the first day, the Redbirds made some music in Nashville.

On the men’s side, here are the performances:

  • Senior Payton Taylor finished 17th in the shot put with 15.62m (51-3).

  • The second student Anthony Smith took 18th place in the shot put with 15.48m (50-9).

  • The second student Yusuf Baig ran a personal best time of 4:12.71 in the mile, his previous best being 4:16.77.

  • In open high jump, freshman Ryan Schaefer tied for 8th place with 1.83 m (6-0).

  • initial Ethan Reynoso ran a personal best time of 4:13.11 in the mile run.

  • Senior Andrew Englert ran the mile in a season-best time of 4:16.32.

  • The second student Charles Cruse finished 6th in the pole vault with 4.70m (15-5).

  • Junior Evan Pickard took 9th place in the pole vault with 4.55m (14-11).

  • Senior Ariel Atias took 11th place in the pole vault with 4.25m (13-11).

  • Invite to the high jump, sophomore Rob Pulliam took 9th place with a jump of 1.98m (6-6).

  • In seeded long jump, junior Sean Hopkins took 9th place with a jump of 7.02m (23-0).

  • Junior Darcis Bitangalo took second in the open long jump with a leap of 7.13m (23-4).

  • Senior Amir Buchanan took 5th in the shot put invitational with a personal best throw of 20.49m (67-2).

  • The second student Garrett Slack finished 6th in the 600m with 1:19.92.

  • In the 200m, Sophomore Enyinna Nwagwu placed 10th with a time of 21.71 seconds.

  • Junior Michael Marrs took 12th place in the 200m dash with a time of 21.75 seconds.

  • In 5000 m, the second Jeff Luke finishes 39th in a personal best time of 14:52.72, his previous best being 15:04.30.

On the women’s side, here are the performances:

  • Mattison Plummer broke into the All-Time Top-10 list with her 19th-place finish of 4:50.16.

  • Senior Kiley Sanders took 9th place in the high jump with a leap of 1.61m (5-3).

  • Junior Kenzie Klink took 7th in the high jump invitational with a leap of 1.68m (5-6).

  • In weight throw open, high Morgan Wrublik took 16th place with a throw of 16.19m (53-1).

  • Junior Atligh Hamilton took 7th in the long jump with a leap of 5.63m (18-5).

  • Senior Brittney Oakley took 9th place in the long jump with a leap of 5.54m (18-2).

  • In open long jump, junior Gracie Jessup finished 11th with a jump of 5.31m (17-5).

  • initial Colleen Zeibert took 9th place in 600 m with a time of 1:35.03.

  • initial Grace Erb took 16th place in 600 meters with a time of 1:36.85.

  • In the 200m race, Nnnenna Okpara took 3rd place with a time of 24.18 seconds.

The next one

Day 2 of the Music City Challenge resumes tomorrow with the women’s 3000m at 8.30am.
