This Friday, September 2nd, marks the final performance of Nightfall’s 35th season of free, fantastic music at Miller Plaza.
The featured headliner is Lil’ Ed & the Blues Imperials (replacing the previously announced Miko Marks). The opening act is Butch Ross.
This Friday’s show will also feature special opportunities from Sanofi Careers in the country. They will advertise job opportunities in Chattanooga through their international company that produces products such as Gold Bond and Icy Hot (formerly known locally as Chattem), as well as offer giveaways of samples of these products. Sanofi was named by Forbes as the #1 employer in their industry in 2021.
The world famous Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials have been a fixture for over 30 years in Chicago, a city filled with unmatched blues talent. The band’s big sound, fueled by Lil’ Ed’s glorious slide work and his gritty, soulful vocals, is as real and hard-hitting as Chicago blues.
With nine albums and thousands of performances under their belt, Lil’ Ed is universally regarded as a giant of the genre. Lil’ Ed and The Blues Imperials—bassist (and Ed’s half-brother) James “Pookie” Young, guitarist Mike Garrett and drummer Kelly Littleton—have been together for more than 30 years—”We’re not band members,” says Williams. “We are family and families stick together.”
Standing the test of time, the band’s big Chicago blues has garnered a devoted following over the years from Ed Heads new and old. Their infectious energy, joyous showmanship and masterful playing have been sharpened by many years together. Lil Ed & the Blues Imperials will play from 8:00-9:30 p.m.
Butch Ross, a well-known local singer/songwriter and master of the mountain trapeze will open the evening’s entertainment. A multi-instrumentalist and live looper, he plays a mix of traditional music, original storytelling and quirky covers. Butch will be joined by some friends to perform Nightfall’s opening set, starting at 7 p.m.
