Their boss has a Ferrari and bought a Lamborghini for his teenage daughter. Employees? They were denied a cost of living increase

A Reddit post has sparked outrage after a worker shared how their company boss indulges in luxuries while denying workers fair compensation. The owner bought himself a Ferrari and gave his 17-year-old daughter a new Lamborghini Urus. Meanwhile, employees were denied cost-of-living adjustments and forced into cheaper health insurance plans.

The workers say they are struggling while the boss praises the wealth

“This man and his lawyers have the gall to deny us a cost of living increase and switch our health insurance to United Healthcare to save a few dollars,” the employee wrote.

Don’t miss:

A moment that particularly shocked a colleague who died in a car accident. The company owner sent the widow a card with $50 cash and a $50 gift card. In contrast, employees raised $1,800 of their own money to support the grieving family.

“Employees contributed to funeral and final expenses,” the poster added. “And he sent her $50 and a gift card.”

This touched off many responses from other workers with similar stories. One commenter wrote, “This happened at my husband’s old job. Everyone in the family got new cars, and they took paid vacations. [paid time off]… They lost three people within a month.

Another said they discovered their boss was posting offers on used Rolls-Royces on eBay, while refusing a raise.

Widening chasms, crumbling morale

The post resonated because it reflected widespread frustration among American workers. Many commentators noted that lavish executive lifestyles often come directly at the expense of employees.

“He didn’t buy luxury cars even though he didn’t pay you back and switched to cheaper insurance,” one person wrote. “He’s buying luxury cars because he’s not paying you … that’s your money.”

Another commenter put it this way: “Record profits are the wages of theft.”

People shared stories of owners who cut back hours, eliminated retirement contributions, and still found ways to upgrade their luxurious lifestyles. Many said they were pressured to donate paid time off to temporarily sick colleagues while bosses collected profits.

One recalled, “Two weeks later [after saying he couldn’t afford raises]He bought a fully loaded Rivian R1T with cash.

A call for change

Many called for unionization or mass resignations. “Organize a mass walkout. Without giving notice,” one person suggested. Another added, “It’s fair to strike, but even better to start a competing firm with highly motivated team members.”

Still, some felt frustrated, arguing that these issues are systemic. “This is 2025 USA in a nutshell,” one commenter wrote.

Whether or not anything changes for the workers in the original post, the message of the thread is that when employees are asked to sacrifice when their bosses show obscene assets, it’s not just a bad light; It feels like a slap in the face.
