This MAGA daughter is furious that her mother’s government assistance was taken away, and the reactions are brutal

Hi, I’m Alexa, and I often use this space to track Donald Trump’s “hot” economy, but we need to examine how his policies are affecting everyday people – especially his loyal followers. So, welcome Donnie Hate Watch.

It’s no secret that President Donald Trump has ended social programs like the Affordable Care Act huge Part of his personality.

Throughout his first term, campaign season and his second presidency, the 79-year-old has pursued programs designed to help low- to moderate-income Americans.

These include cuts to Medicaid, earlier threats to cut SNAP benefits and suspend them in Minnesota, cuts to homeless assistance, proposals to eliminate the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, and more.

Despite the president’s indifference, his loyal base often seems surprised by the elimination of programs they rely on.

Among them is this Trump voter, whom we’ll refer to as Diane. Online, Diane lamented the “growth” in social programs, which she described as “state control, redistribution, and dependency.”

“The same people celebrating… tomorrow will be the ones facing tax hikes and budget shortfalls. Funds will dry up and collide with economic reality,” Diane posted online.

Socialist-democratic politics—which are defined by a belief in strong social safety nets—are dangerous and evil, according to Diane.

Unless, it seems, those programs benefit her family, as Diane also responded to one of Trump’s posts with the following: “We’re patiently waiting for prices to come down.”

“Unfortunately, federal cuts have hurt my elderly mother and other seniors — my mother received a notice that there is no money available. Why would you cut funding that helps people heat their homes?” she asked.

Note: HEAP is a federally funded program that helps low-income residents pay their heating and cooling bills. Funding delays were experienced after the event Trump cut his staff.

In response to Diane’s posts, commenters didn’t hold back as they tried to make sense of her volatile beliefs. Many made the usual “you voted for this” statements.

“Well DiAnne you voted for your elderly mother to pull herself up by her bootstraps,” wrote Reddit user Divacai.

“Diane, why does your mother need redistribution and socialism? Shouldn’t you be celebrating her end of dependence on the state? You got what you voted for,” CalcareousSoil added.

Others suggested that Diane avoid using her mother’s bill on social programs, which she is very much against.

“Socialism is bad, so I guess she started paying Gram’s utility bills,” PrivatePilot9 said. “I’m sure he’s got a lot of extra cash as everything has gotten cheaper in the last few months.”

The post made people want participants to understand what kind of program they are signing up for.

“I swear people have to sign a document that they admit that their ACA subsidies, their unemployment, their disability, their social security, their snap, their wic, their HEAP, their VA benefits, their medicare, etc. are socialism policy,” ktaktb said.

But who knows if it will help conservatives acknowledge their benefits.

“Diane is learning the hard way what democratic socialism really is,” Nada-Siddah said.

Overall, commenters felt that, too often, MAGA justifies these programs for itself, and leaves little understanding for others.

“The only moral handouts are for my family, screw everyone else— [Dianne,] Obviously,” said Ijustlovevideogames.
