This Trump voter asked why their insurance costs didn’t go down, and the answers were so small.

Hi, I’m Alexa, and I often use this space to track Donald Trump’s “hot” economy, but we need to examine how his policies are affecting everyday people – especially his loyal followers. So, welcome Donnie Hate Watch.

To understand today’s disaffected Trump voters, first, allow me to take you back to the 2024 presidential election. During the debate, Trump was asked if he — after 10 years of anticipation — finally had a plan for how to replace the Affordable Care Act. His response? “I have a concept of a plan.”

Well, his “concept of plan” was enough to make millions of supporters believe in his vision.

(Some saw their health care premiums double.)

One disgruntled voter included this anonymous Facebook poster who wrote, “I voted for Trump because by getting rid of all the illegals, it would ultimately make our health care system better if they didn’t screw up the system.”

“Now that 2.5 million illegal aliens have been deported, why is our insurance higher than ever? My prescription drug prices are skyrocketing and the quality of care seems worse than ever.”

“When will things start to turn upside down? I won’t be able to afford health insurance this year because of how bad it is.”

“I’m losing faith Mr. Trump!” They concluded.

Um, a couple of fact-checking notes:

1. The Affordable Care Act prohibits undocumented immigrants from obtaining health insurance through the ACA marketplaces. By 2025, many legally present immigrants are also barred from the market. So, we’re not sure about the anonymous poster’s misspelled “throwing out our system” comment. and;

2. Insurance gets cheaper as more people join, so this thinking is already broken.

Netizens suggested that the increase in premiums should show Trump voters that, perhaps, it was not undocumented immigrants who were driving up prices.

“Unauthorized immigrants were never a problem, but they were easy to exploit as boogeymen,” said Reddit user 0zzm0s1s.. “Trump supporters don’t like to hear that our problems are complex and require elaborate policies, investments and compromises to solve them. They like to hear an angry man talk loudly about how his problems can be solved by building a wall, deporting immigrants and paying tariffs to other countries. It doesn’t matter that it wasn’t necessary for any work, now it needed to be done for good. He’s back in the White House, he can’t downplay their problems.”

Similarly, for anyone wondering why user Protoman doesn’t lower deportation costs, he had advice:

“Kicking yourself in the balls for the same reason doesn’t reduce health care costs. Because those two things are unrelated, idiot,” they said.

The Internet is like, “Maybe someone else is…”

“Can’t leeches get rich this whole time? DUN DUN DUUUUN,” user Thoughtful Lama commented.

Overall, commenters questioned what research the anonymous poster might have done before making their vote.

“He thought it would be cheaper if there were fewer people around who could pay into their health insurance plan?” User janthon567 post.

And they left one last piece of advice:

“According to Trump [insurance prices] are better than ever. Maybe if you don’t like America you can leave?” said user Yivana.
