US Congressman Ro Khanna publicly disclosed the names of six people redacted from the Jeffrey Epstein files, including billionaire retail magnate Leslie Wexner, whom the FBI apparently labeled as a co-conspirator.
The Democratic representative from California revealed the names during a floor speech Tuesday after a visit to the Justice Department, where he and Republican Congressman Thomas Massey of Kentucky spent two hours reviewing the tainted documents.
The six people named by Khanna are Wexner, founder of Victoria’s Secret; Sultan Ahmed bin Sulaim, CEO of DP World and Emirati billionaire businessman; and four others identified as Nicola Caputo, Salvatore Nuara, Zurab Mikeldje and Leonik Leonov.
Khanna has not provided evidence of wrongdoing against any of them nor have they been charged with crimes with Epstein.
“If we had six men hiding in two hours, imagine how many men they are hiding in those 3m files,” Khanna said in his floor speech.
Khanna said that when he and Massey identified the corrections for Justice Department officials, “they admitted their mistake” and disclosed the identities. He said, ‘Most of the files are yet to be redacted.
Epstein pleaded guilty in 2008 to soliciting prostitution of a minor and served a 13-month sentence. In 2019, he committed suicide in a New York prison while on trial for sex trafficking.
Being named in the Epstein files does not establish guilt, as individuals can only appear through email correspondence, contact information or other documents referring to the disgraced sex offender financier.
Here are six names no longer written:
Wexner, 88, who founded a retail empire including Victoria’s Secret, Abercrombie & Fitch and Bath & Body Works, had a long financial relationship with Epstein, who handled his investments for many years.
In a lengthy New York Times investigation in November, Wexner was credited with initiating Epstein’s financial status from millionaire to plutocrat. Apart from money, his “greatest value to Epstein was that he gave him new credibility and credentials”, the reporters wrote.
Although Wexner’s relationship with Epstein was already public knowledge and his name appeared in previous releases, it has now been revealed that he appears to have been labeled a co-conspirator with Epstein by the FBI, even though he faced no criminal charges in connection with Epstein’s crimes.
The Dubai-based businessman heads DP World, a multinational port and logistics enterprise with operations spanning more than 80 countries. He is also the brother of Mohamed Ben Sulaim, head of the FIA, which runs the world’s motorsport championships, including Formula One.
Recently declassified documents reveal that Sultan Ahmed bin Sulaim emailed Epstein in 2015 that he had met a girl who attended an American university in Dubai “two years ago” and had “the best sex I’ve ever had with an amazing body”.
He said, ‘She got engaged but now she is back with me.
Massey also said that because the names were not redacted, the Justice Department appears to have confirmed that Suleiman was the recipient of an email from Epstein in which he said: “I liked the torture video.”
A man named Nicola Caputo is an Italian politician who represented his country in the European Parliament between 2014 and 2019 before taking a senior position in the regional administration of Campania, but no verified evidence has confirmed that this man is mentioned in officially released documents, and established news organizations have not confirmed any connection between him and the files.
It is still unknown who this person is and how they are connected to Epstein.
