Jeffrey Epstein, the wealthy American financier who was arrested in 2019 on federal charges of sex trafficking of minors, was accused by prosecutors of running a years-long abuse network involving underage girls. After the recent release of files related to the investigation, his name has re-emerged in public debate, most unexpectedly, among NASCAR fans.
The U.S. Justice Department began releasing more files related to the man earlier this week, including records related to the case against his associates. These releases include emails, statements, contact lists, and personal writings collected during the investigation. Importantly, the documents contain raw material rather than proven findings, meaning names may appear without any associated allegations or evidence of criminal conduct.

A document released by officials surfaced on Reddit and sent shockwaves through the NASCAR community, as the motorsports world was unexpectedly drawn into the conversation after a brief mention of Joe Gibbs in the files. The documents, which include raw personal writing preserved as part of the broader Epstein case record, contain a fleeting reference to the NASCAR Hall of Famer.
The mention, however, made no allegation of wrongdoing against Gibbs, nor did it describe any inappropriate conduct. Still, the presence of such a prominent figure in material linked to one of the most notorious criminal cases in recent history surprised fans.
After reading the document, NASCAR supporters expressed confusion and concern. a fan commented, “These days I wish I never grew up and I still saw all these people running around in circles as superheroes. Instead I look at the Brian Vickers diecasts I own (which I really like his 2006 car).
Another weighed in and said, “It was pretty scary to read I’d say.”

A third fan advanced to the state, “Seems a great leap to claim that he was once mentioned,” While another commented, “IMO, this crap show runs so deep that we may never know. Not that Gibbs is guilty but my goodness, this crap goes down a rabbit hole. I want any follower of “elitist” status to shut down completely because what you thought turned into insanity.
In the handwritten passages, which appear to be personal notes or journal entries from the alleged victim, Gibbs is described briefly and in positive terms, in contrast to other people named in the same passages. The text outlines an action, interaction, or accusation involving Gibbs. Still, the fact that he was mentioned in the document suggests that there was some connection between Epstein and Gibbs, which upset a large part of the community.

Adding to the online debate was the resurfacing of A separate documentA standard aircraft passenger release and indemnity agreement is bound Joe Gibbs RacingAnd dated January 2013. The waiver, typically used by private aircraft operators, absolves the company of liability related to air travel risks and contains no reference to Epstein, minors, or any illegal activity.

Such waivers are routine in professional sports, including NASCAR, and are designed to protect teams from civil liability in the event of an injury or accident during a private trip. Still, the document’s circulation, along with Epstein-related materials, fueled online speculation, blurring the distinction between unrelated records and fueling public backlash.
There is no indication in the available documents that Gibbs himself has been linked to any wrongdoing. One possible explanation raised online is that a plane belonging to Gibbs or his organization may have been used by someone connected to the scandal rather than Gibbs personally. In a separate and previously reported matter, former Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder, whose franchise Gibbs coached from 1981 to 1991, has also been cited in connection with Epstein-related reporting.
However, Snyder sued MEAWW (Media Entertainment Arts Worldwide) outlets for publishing stories claiming that Snyder faced sex trafficking allegations and was “on Epstein’s list”.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time a NASCAR personality’s name has been entangled with Epstein. Former Joe Gibbs Racing driver Wife of Brian VickersSarah Kensington, also known as Sarah Kellen, was said to be Epstein’s personal secretary and helped him procure underage girls for sexual exploitation.
