Kamala Harris Burns Members of Her Own Party Invested in Protecting Her ‘Title’, ‘I’m Tired’

Former Vice President Kamala Harris fired back at members of her own party on Sunday, saying she was “tired” of people only concerned with their titles.

The former vice president was asked how the Democratic Party can win back the trust of black women.

“First of all, the party needs to understand that the voice of the true leaders in the community needs to be prioritized and not the people who are holding these titles and have invested full-time to protect their titles to actually do something,” Harris said at Root’s Power Rising program.

“I’m tired of these people,” she continued, adding that she was the second black woman to serve in the U.S. Senate. “The AOC can tell you about a number of Democrats, who will walk around the Capitol with their flag pins and all their interns running behind them, and they’ll think they’re very important.”

“It’s been a little controversial, but one of the things I’ve said is this. As I’ve reflected on what’s been going on, I’ve come to realize that part of the issue is part of the weakness, I think, of human nature for someone they’re a purely transactional person,” Harris said.

The former vice president said it’s okay for black women to be “transactional” too.

“They’re not pretending to be based on ethics or values or principles,” Harris said. “They’re not pretending. They’re literally not pretending. They’re in it for what they can get out of it. Their mantra is, ‘I’m going to get mine.’ I think it’s okay for us to be a little bit transactional, and say, ‘I’m going to get mine, too.’

She argued that Democrats should not rely on black women as the backbone of the party because of their value system, ethics and sense of civic duty.

“They will vote because of a high standard of character, which means, I must conduct myself in a way that honors my ancestors and all those who have sacrificed before me. And so I will vote because it is the duty of everyone who paved the way for me to get here,” she said. “But they rely on that. And I say, also, they have to rely on the fact that we expect, and know when they start counting the votes. It’s because they produce better if they win.”

Harris recently revealed that she is considering running in 2028.

The former VP made several stops last week in South Carolina, one of the early voting states on the Democratic Party’s nominating calendar.
